I guess I don't understand how you think it is a wasted expense...they will save time, $$$, and safety safety safety. Safety is the BIGGEST issue here. The less our track staff and/or crew have to spend on the track while cars are in motion is, like Perry said PRICELESS! Time because it won't take all the laps to get people in their place. Someone will be right in your ear letting you know where you go. Money because all those caution laps around the track is gas...and in case you haven't noticed gas is priced crazy high then figure the price of racing gas. Invitationals would work like this...no radio, no race Shocked The other tracks we have visited require this and it works!

As far as car counts go...one of the tracks we go to watch is Crystal and they have so many cars there's no time to qualify! I-96 has awesome car counts too, last I was there anyhow, and they use them too!

One other thing...spend the money on those books Patrick, because they are FULL of information that could save your life, or the life of a fellow racer!

I understand the saftey aspect of it, and I want all people involved in motorsports to be safe. But at the same time to be honest, It doesn't make the driver safer, so I don't understand why the drive should have to pay for the radio. The reason why I am so against this is that I drive a pure stock. I don't have a lot of money into my car and I race I on a fairly low budget, and I know that $100 or more out of my racing budget for something that I don't benifit from would mean that I would have to cut a corner somewhere else in my car.

Also as far as car counts, Invintaionals I know for sure that the Auto City guys that come down to Spartan to race would not buy the radios to race only 4 times or so a yeat. So, that alone would hurt car count and cost the track money.

I know of one track that rents them by the evening at $20. And at the starting out prices posted here on the website
Quote:
a scanner with a listen only ear piece is only $74.

I know a lot of businesses that would buy you that for their sponsorship. As a matter of fact Lost Tiger Tattoos will sponsor you, Aaron, the ones listed above (providing they are usable) should this become a rule in future seasons at Spartan Speedway Wink

Okay, so what don't you agree with Very Happy

One the MSTRC forum they were saying that $200 is more of a true price of these radios with all the things needed to use them. I don't know enough about them to any better, but that is coming from a Crystal regular. I just see this as more saftey for the track than the driver, which I think is needed but it should come at the expense of the driver. But if mine is going to be paid for by a sponsorship, then my complaint is over plus, I need a new Tattoo anyway.

Aaron,

Lost Tiger's offer to you is wonderful. As you can tell, they seriously want to help short track racing, and short track racers.

The Raceceiver radio's are much more important to the driver than to the track. Advance notice of a caution/spin, fluids, etc., assisting the track with lineups after a caution, and, as this has happened to me twice this year already, the track officials can also let you as a driver know if something is rubbing on a rear tire, which you as a driver won't know until you exit the track or otherwise find out about it. With the Raceceiver, you could be notified to pull off, or pull up during a caution to get checked by the spotters to see if it is something that can quickly be cured, of if you need to get off the track.

Those cost of the two tires to replace the toasted ones (both new, by the way, d**m my luck) would have paid for the Raceceiver radio. Either way, I spent the money, would rather have spent it on a radio than on the tires.

Spartan does a great job, these radio's would only make it even better.

I am in favor of them, and, they would also serve as an ear plug for one ear, which means that my wife could talk to me between races without yelling at me, as I tend to leave the earplugs in once they are there.

I see positives here, no negatives.

have a good day,

schinde
