This applies mainly to Springport Cars:

Due to the fact that the scoring at Springport is being done by hand (no transponders), I have been asked by the good folks in the tower that you all make sure your roof numbers are able to read from the tower.

This would mean that if you are standing on the right (passenger's side) of the car, the roof number would appear right side up. If you are standing on the right side of the car and looking at the roof number upside down, please turn it around if at all possible.

I know some of you have already had big fancy vinyl numbers applied to your roofs and won't want to flip them if they are applied wrong, but we are asking this as a courtesy to the people in the scoring tower as they have their hands full as it is.

If this causes particular hardship in your ability to function on a daily basis, please get with me at the track and we'll work something out.

Thanks,
Brian

Brian, and to all racers,

While that is a great point, and will be helpful, and is a must, the MOST important part is to have a CLEAR, VISIBLE number on the SIDE of the car. That is the best place for a scorer to SEE the number as a field of cars all go by the start/finish line, all side by side. And I don't mean the driver's side, it MUST be on the side facing the grandstands. Last week, Brent McCort and Ashley Passick had NO number there, and it was a scoring nightmare for the girls. Even though there was a number on top of the car, that didn't help during a 20 lap feature race with 12 cars. As the season goes on, and car counts climb, that right there could highly contribute to an error made by ANY decent scorer. This is something that MUST be enforced by our tech team. If your car isn't lettered yet, then you MUST have a clear, visible from a distance number on the passenger side of the car. Ask yourself how you'd feel if a scoring error happened, and it was because our scorers couldn't READ YOUR number???

While our scorer's are top notch, we need to do everything humanly possible to make it as easy for them as possible. It is for the racer's benefit, as much as it is for them. No one wants any questionable situation to arise, and this will be a step in the right direction to insure that nothing like that does.

Thanks for bringing this up Brian, and thanks everyone in advance for cooperating.

Big Ed
