Maybe you shouldn't have said that.
Your car has had very little teching, less than most, actually. So to be fair to everyone else, perhaps I should spend some more time looking your car over.

By the way, what does teching have to do with scoring? How did that subject get into this thread?

Please,
Can't we give this favoritism fecal material a rest?
One can't go on any site anymore without reading a post claiming that "favoristism" has been shown to "such and such", or "so and so".
This is such a tired old saw that it can no longer cut wood.
Quit the carping at the officials. Quit carping at the techs. Quit carping at the flagmen.
Until such time comes that the flagmen, tower personnel, tech people and race officials all are making their living from that job at Spartan Speedway, and are all living comfortably by doing so, we frankly have no platform from which to make a complaint.
I love what I do on Friday evenings, and am damn thankful that I can do it, and that there is a place for me to do it. I only wish I had started doiong so much earlier in my life. I haven't won a feature, don't know if I ever will, but just being competitive and able to run with the caliber of driver's that I do each week, and just being able to field a car on that track in front of those fans who enjoy the hell out of the show we put on weekly does it for me.
I show up each week with the intent of winning each time I hit the track, and the competitive juice flows in me just as much as it does in anyone else. When the night is over, I think about what I have to do to get better and run better the next week. The last damn thing on my mind is how the track officials put the screwing to me through scoring, timing, flagging or teching. I show up again the next week intent on winning. If something has happened in the racing community, I think about whether or not I can do anything about it, and if I can, I will. If I can be in a position to help short track racing survive and prosper in mid-Michigan, I do it. Why? Because this sport has taken hold of me and won't let me go.
And its obvious to me that it has taken hold of those who score, flag, tech and officiate our races and won't let go.
But, if people keep cutting at the binds that hold them through useless and baseless carping with unfounded charges, eventually that bind will break. Once broken, the repair will not hold. And that will be when we will see our own piece of racing heaven in mid-Michigan go away forever.
Everyone has their breaking point.
I hope we don't reach it.
have a good day,

Well Maurice, lets see maybe its because we arent running for the points championship? just a guess? but if you feel the need to do this then lets start with the guy who has won 11 feature races.
Jim and Caroline, All we did was make a simple suggestion. if you dont want to post it then thats fine. but this is getting way out of hand for a simple question.
see ya tonight!

Thanks for answering all our questions regarding the Transponder Data At least if there is anyone out there that has wanted to see their times they know what they can and cannot do about it. I didn't think it was going to become a stone throwing match I know I was asking because we have been asked by a couple of rookie drivers (that don't have a big crew to help them) and weren't sure exactly what they could do about it. I was only familiar with the speeding transponder data.
Speaking of stone throwing emoticons where are you getting those things from Jerry?!?

| Well, this has been interesting, and I think that it has pretty much all been covered now. Looks kinda like racing is just politics with horsepower and without law degrees. |

If you run a mod, street or pony my daughter writes down everyones time when they qualify but during the race she doesn't keep track because she doesn't have a stop watch. Anyone is welcomed to come and see what they turned. She sits in the first set of bleachers near the pit gate.

Jerry | Yea, I'm outta control, somebody stop me. Who would have thought that asking the track to publish public information would be a capital offense. |

Jim or whoever was responsible for turning on the transponder system for practice, THANKS. I work on a team that runs Fridays but I'm also a fan and like to see what is going on in the other divisions as well. _________________ Keith

I just think it would be nice to know if your car set up is all out of wack and you make some changes, it would be nice to know if those changes were good ones or great ones, or ones that should have been left alone, as far as what someone else's time is ,you can pretty much tell they are faster when they pass you....which in turn makes you want to make changes..... |

Even if the scorers were to post your times for you, by the time you got them, it would be too late. If you are working on your car to see what works and what doesn't work, you need results immediately. You then make a change to the car and get it back it line for another practice session. You can't be waiting for the tower to post your times.
This requires someone with a stopwatch to clock your laps during your practice sessions. All professional race teams do it this way. Why should the teams at Spartan Speedway do it any differently?
How about just letting the people in the tower do their jobs, let the flagmen do their jobs, let us tech officials do our jobs, let the track workers and spotters do their jobs, etc, etc. In return, we will all let the drivers and crews do their jobs. There really isn't a whole lot to complain about like some people seem to be implying.
What do you say, everyone?

I agree with you Maurice. It should be up to the crew ( if you have one) to help keep track of lap times. Stop watches are cheap and if you dont have a crew member to keep track of lap times, there are several people in the pits ( including me, just ask )that would be more than willing to help you. Also the driver should be able to tell if the car is faster or slower by the way the car feels. For example...If you have a push..did the change you made make it better or worse? If its better, then your going in the right direction, If its worse, your going in the wrong direction.
There are several people at Spartan that are more than willing to help. All you need to do is ask.
You can get everyones lap times posted but if you dont know how to work on your set up then what good are they?
