Condolences to the Newman Family

This morning Spartan Speedway lost a long time supporter and our Crew Cheif Rob Newman lost his father, Art Newman. We would like to send our sympathies out to Art's wife, Fern Newman, and their children and their families.

I know that when he had his surgery last year, it was announced at the track that he and his wife had been to Spartan Speedway every friday night for over 20 years! That's dedication and amazing at least! As I was talking to Doc I started to wonder just how many racers, at Spartan Speedway, they have seen race their (the racers) entire careers!?!

Its sad to hear that we have lost yet another true racer. Ive known Art a long time and I will miss seeing him at the track . Our deepest sympathy to the Newman family.

Thanks to all that have replied its going to be a hard long strugel but i no on behalf of the newman family we will all be all right cause we are fighters and wont give up . as soon as i no when the arrange ments are i will let every body no hope to see some of you at the funural

Turn one will never be the same without Art sitting there, cheering for his kids, and friends, with Fern right beside him. I may not have many years in as being part of the Spartan Family, but I learned very quickly about the "Newman" Family and their part of Spartan Speedway history. I'll never forget what Art has done for local short track racing, and I'll always try and make sure that anyone within an earshot of my voice, will remember also.

I would like to express my sympathy to the Newman family. Art's passing will leave a void at Spartan on Friday nights. He never failed to kid me and give me the needle every time I walked by. A more dedicated fan will never pass through the Spartan gates. Don't worry Jacob, he will still be watching you and cheering you on. Please let us know if there is anything we can do.
