Art Bennett is reportedly the first person to win a feature at Spartan Speedway. Does anyone know Art Bennett or know of Art Bennett.

If he is still around I would like to try to get him to a race this season.

Art Bennett did win the first feature at Spartan on July 20,1956. He is very much alive and I believe he still resides in Battle Creek. I will see if I can get a number or find a way to contact him. Marty Blume
By the way, the history info is coming along quite fine as I am only missing about 4 or 5 of the headline track champs and maybe about a dozen of the support champs.

Thanks Marty. I'm glad to hear that.

Two people that have allot of Spartan history are Tom Hernley Sr and Buzz Sawyer. I was at Sawyer's Chevrolet yesterday and Buzz had old Spartan stuff right in his desk.

Everyone in the pictures that I knew were all skinny. Gary and Butch Fedewa, Bill Dendinder, Johny Logan, Bob Seelman. Must be we didn't have hot dogs and french fries at the track back then.

two possible phone listings for Art Bennett of Battle Creek,
as per: msn white pages,

1)Home # (727)392-4850
2)Work # (269)963-0357 (tri state used cars)

showing this Art Bennett to be around 80 years young.
