Effective August 14th at Spartan Speedway and August 15th at Auto City Speedway, there is a rule that will be enforced in the Hornet and Pony Stock divisions. The rule enforcement is primarily aimed at the Neons competing at each track but also pertains to any other make and model that has received similar alterations. The control arms on the rear suspension must be perfectly straight and may not be modified in any way. No bending and no cutting and welding to change the effective length of the control arms will be permitted.

An exerpt from the Hornet suspension section in Auto City Speedway's rulebook:

Must be factory stock and in stock location with no alterations and must match year, make and model.

And here is an exerpt from the Pony Stock suspension section in Spartan Speedway's rulebook:

No modifications are allowed to any front or rear suspension part including (but not limited to) axle assemblies, k-frames or frame crossmembers, control arms, struts, and spindles. Control arm mounting points, k-frame and crossmember mounting points may not be modified or relocated.

Bending the control arms constitutes an alteration to the part and will not be permitted at either track.

I am posting this on behalf of Jim Leasure and Chuck Ewing at Spartan Speedway.

1.) How does one determine what "damage" is and what "modification" is to a stock part. I realize if its been cut and or lengthen, its easy to see.. but if its been bent or damaged, are you saying it has to be replaced ?

2.) Those cars which made the necessary safety modifications to achieve the 8 degrees of camber on the RF, are you saying they have to go back to the less safe set up ?

Would seem to me that if your going to not allow some cars to have camber (its only achievable in some makes and models through modification), then all cars should have to have the same max setting.

On the Dodges.. does "No modifications are allowed to any front or rear suspension part including (but not limited to) axle assemblies, k-frames or frame crossmembers, control arms, struts, and spindles." mean that anyone who has drilled out the holes on their struts knuckles, replaced the stock bolt with a smaller dimension bolt, or ground the knuckle area now has to replace those parts ? Are washers and or spacers in the rear hubs considered a modification ?

Please read again, especially the large print, This new rule enforcement is for the rear suspension only as stated.

I'm confused...If you have a part thats been bent in an wreck, why wouldn't you either repair it or replace it? I personally would replace it or straighten it if it isn't bent to bad. If you want to run bent suspension parts I guess thats up to you, but I wouldn't recommend it.

This rule enforcement is to eliminate rear steer only...please stop reading more into it.

Thanks

Saw fast cars dogging it in the feature to avoid tech ???

Maybe tech should randomly pick a car out of the top 3 qualifiers to add to tech line ?
