As some of you know i took a wild ride in the last figure-8 and decided to take the ride to the hospital to be checked out. I was x rayed top to bottom and found to be free of any injurys until the bill came.
1 ride to sparrow 400.00+ dollars.
2.5 hrs at sparrow and a bill of $10,000 for exrays and cat scan, yes ten thousand dollars ,which my insurance carrier is disputing at this time and dont know if the tracks K&K insurance will cover. my insurance carrier says they wont cover any bills for racing as it is a paid sport and is considered professional . so all be careful about your insurance as you could be in worse shape than i was and would lose everything if your carrier did not pay the bill. now i know why healthcare is so expensive at $5,000 per hour at the hospital. Oldgold,

Let's hope K&K steps up to the plate like they should and takes care of those bills. Last I knew, that was a part of why we paid $25 per night for a pit pass, so that we had some insurance coverage at and on the track.

I am sure this is secondary coverage to your own coverage, but nonetheless, if your primary insurance comapny won't cover the bills, then one would think the secondary would step up and help out.

Herein lies a good question, warning and lesson to be learned, regretfully at Rick's potential cost.

Just what does the track insurance cover if it doesn't cover these costs and such.

If it does not cover us/our crew, etc., while at and on the track, then, all of you in the insurance business out there reading this, please let us know what we can/should do in order to avoid being hit with something that may well destroy/end a long time racer's career.

Any info will be appreciated by all of us.

Using my line of "have a good day" doesn't seem to fit here either, so instead, I'll use,

Hoping things work out properly,

schinde

When my daughter got hurt at Spartan a few years ago the tracks insurance covered everything, the only problem with the insurance company was you had to argue with them about everything, but in the end they paid it all.

Hopefully, they will take good care of you on this matter. In reality, the hospitals shouldn't be charging so much for their time. It's just a bit ridiculous. $2000 would be plenty.

I wonder if the insurance company down their in Fort Wayne would be more helpful if they knew I had one of the old #71 K&K Insurance Dodges sitting here at my shop?
