What class are you going to run? If your a beginner you might want to try Pony Stock or Pure Stock. If you need help building your car let me know, I might be able to help.

Young man (racing addict)
I take it you are a young man, even if not, I'm not so sure you realize what your asking here.
It isn't likely that you will find someone out there, with a race car, a crew, and safety equipment, and sponsors, that's just going to let you drive their race car. Especially if your new, and cannot contribute something to the team, besides the craving to drive. Most everyone even thinking about racing feels like you do.
My suggestion, if you can't afford to field your own car, then you need to find a current driver that may need some help. Go to the track, become part of someone's race team, help, learn, save, learn, ask, and most of all, LEARN. Have some fun, and educate yourself on all the finer points of local short track racing. I know at Spartan alone there are a ton of drivers that would welcome your help with open arms. Make a connection, learn about what it takes to compete, financially and mentally, then decide if you want to try and fund a novice racing adventure. There's a lot more to it then I think you realize.
Good luck with whatever you decide. I didn't post to try and shoot you down, I posted this to try and help you, in a more realistic way.

There are a few pony stocks around that you could probably buy for around $500 to $1000 race ready. Go to the "want to buy" section of this web site and ask if anyone has a car to sell. You just might be surprised.
If there is anyway I can help , let me know.
