Has their been any consideration given to changing the tire rule to allow 15" tires and/or 60 series or 65 series tires ?

Its becoming more and more difficult to find 14" 70 series tires and many of the newer (think 2005+) model cars come stock with 16" or 17" aluminum wheels that 14" steel wheels just won't fit over.

That becomes an issue because you can't get a 15" tire with a 70 series sidewall in a 195 width.. it just doesn't exist.

Perhaps the envelope could be slightly expanded to a 205/60 series.. which is available in many different brands and in 14 and 15 and 16 inch sizes readily and inexpensively.

I don't see anything in the rules that says you have to use 14" tires and wheels. Only requirements are they are stock size for the car with a maximum section width and minimum sidewall height. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

We do need to do something about the tires. I say we go to 195 60 14
with a 200 rating. This gives us many more options. #21 pony stock

They don't make a 15" tire with a 70 series side wall and a 195 or smaller width.. so while the rule doesn't say "no 15 in tires", the rule effectively prohibits them though width and height combo..

I'm not on here to argue but if you punch in 195/70 15 on tirerack.com you will see tires to choose from.
