Every driver must complete and sign a Driver’s Registration Form. There is an annual $20.00 fee to register.

Each driver that competes in more than 75% of the completed events will receive the following at the Driver’s Awards Banquet

  • 5% rebate on fuel purchases from Spartan Speedway during the current season
  • $100 for “Perfect Attendance” if you competed in ALL of the completed events.
    (You must be present to receive the $100)

Each driver that competes in more than 50% of the completed events is eligable for a trophy and awards at the Driver’s Awards Banquet.





NOTICE: (Reserved slabs will be made available for use until 6:00 (Fridays) and 3:30 (Sundays). Any reserved slab not occupied for two (2) consecutive scheduled races will be made available for use until the office is notified that the driver will be returning.All race cars must be parked on a slab. In order to reserve the same slab season to season you must do so by March 1. You may not loan, rent, or otherwise reassign your slab.

Slab Fees:

  • A. Reserved (includes Sundays) – $125
  • B. Season (first come first serve) – $60
  • C: Per Night (deducted from pay) – $10

Any interpretations of the rules are left to the officials, whose decisions are final. Just because it is not written, does not mean you can do it.

If you are considering building or purchasing a Pony Stock we highly recommend you receive pre-registration approval prior to doing so.

Due to the many makes and models available for use, restrictions may be added to any specific make or model to maintain fair and equal competition.

No race car will be considered as having been approved by reason of having passed through inspection unobserved.


a) 4-cylinder, front wheel drive, compact cars only. ( Some restrictions apply. Call 517-244-1042 or email spartanspeedway@gmail.com for pre-registration approval. )b) Not Allowed: RWD, turbos, multi-carburetor, rotary, mid or rear engine, convertibles, allwheel drive, 2 seat coupes.

c) Use of any OEM or after market performance parts is not allowed unless specified in these rules.


a) Must be stock and in stock locations.b) Body and frame must match the same make and model and year.

c) Must have full windshield (Lexan may be used) with all the other glass removed. Quarter windows may be filled with flat replacement material.

d) Front and rear firewalls must be original and in stock locations.

e) All holes and openings in firewalls must be covered with metal.

f) Aluminum racing seats that are properly mounted are MANDATORY. (No fiberglass seats).

g) Dash must remain in stock location.

h) No mirrors.

i) The battery may remain in the original factory location provided it is in a safe location and securely mounted. If the battery is relocated, it may only be relocated to the trunk area. Batteries mounted in trunk must be secured by (2) two 1″ metal straps. No batteries mounted in driver’s compartment.

j) Must have a battery kill switch mounted on “A” pillar.

k) Doors must be welded or bolted shut.

l) Interior door panels, upholstery and headliner must be removed.

m) Tube may be reinforced between cage and strut tower. A tube may also extend beyond the strut tower to the front, continued across the front and end at the opposite strut tower but may not compromise the original unibody construction. No non-factory tower to tower brace.


a) Fuel tank to be mounted in trunk and secured with (2) two 1″ metal straps (made for racing fuel cells are recommended). May run OEM plastic gas tank if it is located in front of rear axle, under floor pan, and is fully covered with a steel skid plate. Fuel lines must run below floor pan. Tanks that are mounted in the trunk must have protective hoop and 10″ of ground clearance.b) External electric fuel pumps allowed, but must be wired to oil pressure shut down switch.


a) Must be factory stock and in stock location with no alterations and must match year, make and model except where specified in these rules.b) Camber RF maximum 8 degrees, all other corners maximum 2 degrees.

c) RF suspension may be modified to achieve maximum eight (8) degrees camber.

d) Right front and right rear hub may be upgraded.

e) Removal of stabilizer bars are allowed. Addition of stabilizer bars are allowed only if original factory equipment. If stabilizer bars are used, stock unaltered mountings and mounting parts must be used.

f) Stock appearing springs front and rear must be used. Extra heavy duty, aftermarket racing or performance springs are not allowed. Left and right must be equal, including number of coils, free length, etc. Only original factory rubber spacers may be used on top or bottom of springs. If spacers are used, left and right must match. No spacers of any kind are allowed between the coils. Spring coils must not be close to binding at a standstill. Vehicle must sit reasonably level, left to right, at a standstill.

e) Stock-type shocks and struts must be used. No aftermarket racing or performance struts or shocks allowed. Modifications to shocks, struts, mounting points, and upper and lower spring mounts are not allowed. Shocks and struts must be allowed to have full free travel up and down without binding. Mounting points must be stock.


a) May use safety wheels. Safety wheel on R.F. is required. 1″ lugnuts required with use of safety wheels.b) Maximum wheel width is 7″ with a 3″ minimum back space.

c) All tires and wheels must be the same size.

d) Any dot stamped tire with minimum tread wear rating of 300. Tread wear rating must be visible from outside of tire.

e) Max width 195. Minimum 65 series. Maximum diameter is 15″.

f) Tires may not protrude outside of body panels.


a) Engine must match with car make and model. All related engine components must be stock for that engine.b) Radiators with additional cooling capacity are ok but must be able to be mounted within OEM radiator mounts.

c) Transmissions may be stock automatic or manual for that make and model. Clutches and fly wheels must remain OEM or OEM stock replacement.

d) Stock converters only with no alterations.

e) Must have working forward and reverse gears.


a) Must have four (4) hydraulic working brakes. No adjusters (proportioning valves) allowed.b) Brake components to be OEM or OEM stock replacement parts.


a) 2350 lbs. minimum pre-race with driver. Race ready.b) All weight must be securely fastened. All weight must be solid mast and painted white.


a) Stock OEM manifold. Tubular manifold allowed when factory stock.b) Converters must be removed.

c) 2.0″ max OD.

d) Exhaust must exit behind driver and outside of car. (For Tech)

e) No exhaust leaks allowed.

f) Mufflers required – glass paks ok.

g) Max decibel reading of 95 db.


a) The roll cage must be of four post design with four driver’s side door bars and three right side door bars. From front up right to rear upright and from top door bar to frame rail. A 1/8″ steel plate is mandatory on driver’s side door bars from front upright to rear upright and from top door bar to frame rail.b) Driver’s window must have approved window net.

c) Racing seat must be secured to roll cage with a minimum of six (6) 3/8″ bolts.

d) Approved aluminum racing seat is mandatory.

e) All bars within driver’s reach must be padded with approved safety and fire rating.

f) Steering wheel centers must be padded.

g) Quick release steering wheels are optional.

h) Quick release five (5) point safety belt with three (3) inch minimum belt width harness securely mounted to roll cage is mandatory. The belts must also contain the original certified date tag and must be less than 5 years old depending on condition.

i) A 2 pound fire extinguisher in working order must be securely mounted and within driver’s reach

j) All other required safety equipment and specifications are addressed in Section 3 of Track Rules & Procedures.


a) Qualifying:Heat and Feature race positions will be determined by qualifying time. (see Section 4 of Track Rules & Procedures for additional qualifying and race procedures).

b) Non-Qualifiers and Scratches:

Every driver must have a base time to be eligible to compete in any feature event. Their base time will be established through qualifying. In the event the driver scratches their base time or doesn’t qualify, their base time will be determined by their best lap time in a heat race.

Any driver that establishes their base time in a heat race, must start their feature at the rear.
Note… Non qualifiers and scratches will receive 0 qualifying points .

c) Inverts:

Total with non-qualifiers and scratches starting at the back of the field.

d) Breakout Rules:

  • Any 2 laps .25 under qualifying time. Top 4 qualifiers are exempt.

e) Break Out in Heats:

Black flagged, no points or pay for heat race. Your Q time is scratched and your fastest lap time in the heat is your time for the feature.

f) Break Out in Feature:

First break out, caution flag and driver is sent to the rear of the field. Second break out driver is black flagged and scored in LAST place.


Qualifying: 20, 17, 15, 14, 13, down to 5 as a low. Non qualifiers and scratches will receive 0 qualifying points.Heat Race Points: 10, 8, 6, 4. Everyone else gets 2 points.

Feature Race Points: 100, 90, 85, 80, 75, 70, 65. Everyone else gets 60 points.

Tow Points: 20

* Any driver that switches cars during the season will receive points for the division that they qualify and race in.
